The Types of Grants The Government Has Available for The Average Joe
By now you probably have realized the government tries to set up programs to help stimulate the economy, encourage home ownership, and create jobs. With my background in accounting we learn early on that the Tax System is set up in a way that favors these kind of things. Well, in researching free government grant money, I have come to learn that there are many different types of grants that are available for the everyday, ordinary US citizen. You would be surprised at what is out there, and what you could be missing out on. You are probably thinking right now, “Hey, if I qualify then I want free grant money that I never have to pay back, too!” The following is a list of just some of the things that the government is handing out free grant money to support:
1. Help you pay your bills
2. Go to school
3. Start a business
4. Pay off credit cards
5. Get out of debt
6. Buy your own home
7. Fix up your home
8. Invest in real estate
9. Eliminate medical bills
And the list goes on…
In fact, there are almost 4,000 government money programs available, and almost every American citizen qualifies for at least some money in one way or another. Remember, the Federal and State Governments are handing out Hundreds of Billions of dollars in grant money for 2009. Because of the current economic circumstances and the unemployment rate growing, there are many people that could really use this extra money.
Why Do Millions of People Not Know About This Money?
It is simple. The government doesn’t advertise it. You have to go get it yourself! They are not going to track you down and place money in your lap. First, that would cost them quite a bit of money just to have an organization in place to handle, and second, if it isn’t claimed, they get to keep it and use it.
What many people don’t understand about the government and it’s funding is that the individual income tax, or the money that comes from individuals like you and me, is their biggest source of revenue. In 2007 the Congressional Budget Office reported that 45% of federal tax revenue came from the individual income tax, 35% from payroll taxes, 15% from corporate income tax, 3% from excise taxes, and 2% from other tax sources.
For this reason, over the years, thousands of laws and regulations have been passed to give a portion of this tax money back to citizens like you and me in the form of grants…Yep, that is right, it is mandated by law.
